POSITION DETAILS:
- Title: Geotechnician
- Location: Eureka, Utah
- Position Type: Full-Time, Site-Based
- Schedule: 8 Days On, 6 days off, 10-hour shifts
- Reports To: Exploration Geologist / Exploration Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Geotechnicians play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day activities of the Exploration Department at Tintic Consolidated Metals LLC, part of Osisko Gold Group Inc. As TCM expands its underground mining, drilling, and surface exploration activities, the company is seeking a motivated, collaborative individual to help achieve the goals of its Exploration Program. This hands-on, physically demanding role is based in an active mining environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Be physically fit for work.
- Cutting drill core with a saw.
- Drill core handling, measuring recovery and RQD.
- Properly Sampling Core.
- Picking up core and RC cutting from the drill rigs.
- Field work that may include collection of soil and rock chip samples.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
- Complete and submit notes, reports, timesheets, and any other documents required in legible handwriting or typed format on time.
GENERAL:
- Assist Geologist in their duties.
- Maintain physical fitness required for the position.
- Actively support and enforce all TCM safe work practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to walk up, down, and over rough terrain.
- Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding work in a field-based environment.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in adverse weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn and apply scientific methods and field procedures.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Mineral exploration experience and/or related training is considered an asset; however, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
